Matthew Bone appointed as a District Judge

We are delighted to confirm that the King has appointed Matthew Bone to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Westminster Magistrates’ Court with effect from 16 January 2023.

Matthew Bone will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Bone. He was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1999. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Court) in 2019.

Matthew has been an integral part of this firm from the moment the business started trading on the 4th June 2002.

He has served as a Solicitor, Director and, in recent years, as a Consultant.  The contribution he has made to this firm over the years has been immeasurable and he has been a key contributor to our success.

With his appointment, it means that Matthew has announced his retirement from the firm with immediate effect.

The Directors congratulate Matthew and his family on his appointment.  It is a very proud day for us all.

In tribute, Simon Samuels, has said, “Without doubt, in my opinion, the most talented criminal solicitor in Essex at every level – who has not asked Matthew’s view  or help in the last 20 years.

“I’m not going to list Matt’s achievements over the years because they are too many and any list would only scratch the surface of those achievements.

“It is therefore with a heavy heart that I, on behalf of the firm, wish Matthew every success and happiness in his new life and thank him once again for everything he has done for the Firm and us as individuals.”
